Fifth Reunion
Monday April 23 through 26, 2007
Las Vegas, Nevada

The reunion location, as voted on by the membership, is Las Vegas, Nevada. The reunion facilities, at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, are outstanding! Located in the heart of the Las Vegas action on the strip, Excalibur offers gaming of all types. Lefty Nordhill has negotiated a great room price for us. You will notice that the reunion registration price is up slightly from the last reunion. All I can say is "Welcome to Las Vegas ". The various unions have made things very expensive for planning a reunion there. The good news is that the room rates are very reasonable. Over all the total cost is lower when room rate and registration fees are combined compared to the San Diego reunion. It will be noted that the hotel will charge your credit card for your first nights accommodations when you make a reservation. Seems this has become the norm in Las Vegas. The charge is completely refundable if canceled 48 hours before you are due to arrive. The reunion committee encourages you to make your reservations early. The Association is committed to book 80 rooms to receive any compensation on the Hospitality suite so please stay at the Excalibur. If we don't make our required booking figure, 80 rooms, we will be responsible for and must pay large penalties.

The winners of the VO-67 Association scholarships for 2006 and 2007 and will be announced at the banquet and the winning essays read to the banquet attendees. The VO-67 scholarship program has really expanded. What a great way to honor the memory of our squadron members both living and deceased by providing monetary help to deserving students. Competition, judged on a double blind standard, is very lively. I understand that the spread was only a few 1/10ths of a point in 2006. All of the essays will be placed into the VO-67 archives as they are all outstanding.

Many members will attend this fifth reunion, of our brotherhood, for the first time. As we have always done at past gatherings, honor will be paid to our KIA shipmates by "Tolling" the ceremonial squadron bell and sounding each member's name. This tribute is done with great pride as it was an honor to have known and served with these heroes. Tribute is also paid to all departed VO-67 shipmates during this special ceremony. The VO-67 brotherhood lost several members since our last reunion in San Diego. Andy Zdebski and Don Sehorn will be missed at this reunion. Don was MC at all our reunions except one and Andy, a VO-67 Association board member worked very hard to improve the Association. Both were very active and contributed time and energy to every project the Association had. We will miss them both tremendously. Chief John Driver has agreed to fill in as MC at the 2007 reunion and was honored to except when asked because of his love for Don.

The VO-67 Archives has really grown. A new addition is a Norden Bombsight with stabilizer. I am sure that the bombardiers will have a great time playing with and talking about our sight. The VO-67 Archives are a snapshot of VO-67 history. The collection is fast becoming famous due to the many unique VO-67 one of a kind items and documents.

The VO-67 Association will be electing new officers during the business meeting. I hope you will consider running for an office. The positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and two At Large positions are available. In order that our Association continue to grow, other dedicated individuals must step up to the challenge.

As out-going VO-67 Association President I wanted to say thanks to all who supported me and your Association board of officers the last four years. We have done great things together both in 1967-68 and since our first reunion in 1999. It has been an honor to serve with you then and now.

Please contact me at VOSixtySeven@aol.comif you would like to receive the registration forms. If you are on the VO-67 roster you will be receiving information in the mail around November 1, 2006. I look forward to seeing you all.
